At the Department of Advanced Accelerator Technologies we are engaged in the development of accelerators with higher luminosity, more intense beams, and higher quality beams, and of physics detectors with greater precision and processing speed. With these advanced accelerators and detectors of heretofore unparallelled performance research into fundamental particles, nuclei, and material and life sciences will rapidly develop, expanding the horizons of knowledge. The Department of Advanced Accelerator Technologies was established as a research center that can lead the accelerator science of the future, and promote the further development of Japan's already world-class accelerator science. In addition, through the strengthening of cooperation between industry, academia and government, we aim for the spread of valuable innovations born of technical developments for frontier accelerators.
